Becoming the Midlife Kindness Coach

A bit more about me...

My life has been the proverbial "rollercoaster" ride. With massive dips, twists and turns, interspersed with wonderful highs and the normal day to day. Throughout the journey my strengths and passions have always been people centred, with deep listening, connection, fun and kindness at the heart of everything.

Growing up I pursued my love of all things Germanic, and a German degree with Marketing at Oxford Brookes was the perfect springboard for a wonderful 21 year career in the medical device industry where I was able to make a real difference. A lifetime of listening, hearing and understanding. I attribute my success to building strong personal relationships, understanding and translating spoken and unspoken client needs and connecting and communicating globally (US focussed) at all levels. And having a good laugh along the way! Life's too short to be boring. I was also the office Agony Aunt, providing an empathetic and friendly ear in a male dominated, and oft times insensitive environment. It was demanding and stressful, but also fulfilling and enjoyable for a long time. .

In the midst of all this was a devastating cancer diagnosis during my maternity leave at 38, resulting in a 9 month detour to beat breast cancer. Throwing myself back into work was my best therapy at the time, my return to "normal", however my failure to process this massive life event produced some unhappy "blips" for me over the years. I wish I had known about how incredible life coaching is back then. But I had never heard of it. So I kept trudging along, in my "normal."

That is until my work situation changed and my face no longer fitted. I felt unfulfilled, demoralised and unhappy and I lost my confidence, my self-esteem and sense of self. I felt crushed. This was not sustainable, for me or my family. It was finally time to make a big change.

My passion for people, aligned with my life experience and skill set led me to successfully pivot by retraining to be a certified Life Coach and NLP Practitioner. I have found my true purpose. Fundamentally the combined power of these intensive studies also provided my own personal transformation and recovery from my emotional battering - I am now happy, free, fulfilled and true to myself. I am finally the leading lady in my own life and in control, and it's wonderful!  Julia Roberts said "Loving what you do is the secret to everything". I couldn't agree more.

I love to travel and miss it, although I have developed a liking for a mooch in the Cotswolds, with a good shop and tea room thrown in. And of course cake, there has to be cake! I love socialising and enjoying good food, good fun and good wine, preferably with a dance in the kitchen as well. Happy days and happy memories. To get back to me, I enjoy gentle yoga (slow vinyasa flow, not too taxing!)

I also love being at home in OX17 where I live with my lovely husband and son and two cossetted fluffy ragdoll cats called Daisy and Mojo.
